Hey, I'm Dr. Barnett, OD a therapeutic optometrist and glaucoma specialist serving McKinney and Frisco Texas.

Dr. Valerie Barnett has earned distinction at all levels of academic advancement, including valedictorian (Farwell High School), Magna Cum Laude (Texas A&M University) and Summa Cum Laude (University of Houston College of Optometry).

Inspired by her own optometrist, Dr. Barnett attended the University of Houston College of Optometry where she graduated 2nd in her class. Her training included clinical rotations in pediatrics, glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology, low vision and more.
After completing her education, she worked for an ophthalmology group in East Texas for 9 years where she cared for patients of all ages, providing a wide variety of care including pre- and post-operative care, diabetic and pediatric exams and glaucoma co-management.

Prior to joining the Texas Vision & Laser Center, Dr. Barnett had the honor of serving veterans by working in the ophthalmology department at the Veterans Hospital, and volunteering with a local mission team that provides eye care to people in need around the world.

Dr. Barnett is a native West Texan. When she’s not busy caring for patients, she enjoys running and spending time with her husband and daughters.
